The Local Party
The Lib Dems are one of the most active political parties in Camborne, Redruth and Hayle. Our party has supported local campaigns to improve the lives of residents and taken up individual cases on behalf of local people. The local party has hundreds of activists who help with our campaigns.

Across the UK
In Parliament, the Liberal Democrats are the third largest party with 63 MPs across the country. The Lib Dem leadership, under Nick Clegg, has helped to advise the Government on the banking crisis and has been active in pressing the Government for a fair deal for British people.
Our Treasury spokesman Vince Cable was the first mainstream British politician to warn about the dangers of the credit crunch, and was calling for action to be taken by the Government years before the financial crash of 2008. He is now one of the most widely respected politicians across all political parties.
The Liberal Democrats also run a number of large city councils including Bristol, Hull, Sheffield and Portsmouth as well as many county councils. In Cornwall the Lib Dems are the official party of opposition.
Lib Dem values
The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
We champion the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals, we acknowledge and respect their right to freedom of conscience and their right to develop their talents to the full.
We aim to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. We believe that the role of the state is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their lives.
