Councillor David Ekinsmyth

DSCF0463

David Ekinsmyth is a parish councillor in Illogan.

He has been a tireless campaigner in the parish and was one of the first local councillors to draw attention to the Government’s plan to build 11,000 new houses in the area.

His survey on the issue sparked a huge protest against the plan, on which local people had not been consulted.

David was also active in the Lib Dems’ campaign to save the Post Office Network, and also campaigned for ‘Recycle Now’ and the ‘Park Bottom Action Group’.

David has never claimed any allowances of expenses – all his work for the community has been voluntary.

In his spare time he works with a local charity which provides sailing activities for blind people. David lives in Tehidy with his wife, Jill. They have two children and four grandchildren.
